Meet the Team Behind Ramage Sheetmetals

Ross - The Boss
There was no way we were going to get a photo of our boss, Ross—so here he is in cartoon form. Ross has been at the helm of Ramage Sheetmetals for over 30 years, quietly setting the standard for precision engineering across Hawke's Bay and beyond. Known as a man of few words but plenty of action, his work truly speaks for itself, and it's why our customers come from far and wide to trust him with their projects. Ross is more than an exceptional engineer; he’s the backbone of our team. He leads by example, instilling values of hard work, precision, and pride in every job. A trusted mentor to the next generation, he’s always looking out for his crew, ensuring they grow their skills in a supportive and challenging environment. Hawke's Bay knows Ross as the go-to guy for solving complex engineering challenges, and we’re lucky to have him at the heart of everything we do here at Ramage Sheetmetals.

Zaine - Team Leader
Here at Ramage Zaine is "all over the workshop helping anyone who needs it, keeping the wheels turning." He still enjoys fabricating when he can, but only with stainless or aluminium – because mild steel is, in his words, "yucky." A bit about Zaine ℹ️🧑🏭 In his spare time, you’ll find him elbows-deep in his BJ45 Landcruiser, restoring the classic beast, or preparing for his next big project: fatherhood! If he could have any superpower, it’d be teleportation – so he could skip the expressway traffic. His favourite TV show is Trailer Park Boys, dream travel destination is Canada, and if he could have any pet, it’d be a monkey. Zaine only drives Toyotas (Hilux and Landcruiser, of course), and growing up, he dreamed of being a sniper in the army – though we’re glad he chose the workshop over the warzone! A fun fact about Zaine is that he has one ear smaller than the other. When asked about his favourite thing at Ramage Sheetmetals, he said, "the variety of work and the perks... oh, and being Big Ben’s slave driver." Zaine, thanks for keeping our workshop running like a well-oiled machine and for bringing a bit of humour (and Toyota loyalty) to the team. p.s Zaine pictured in his natural habitat

Brian - Press Brake
Meet Brian Rooney — our tall, bearded legend on the press brake at Ramage Sheetmetals. Standing at an impressive 6’4” with a long grey beard that gives him true character, Brian brings both precision and personality to the workshop. As our expert press brake operator, Brian ensures every profile fold meets our exacting standards. With two years of experience at Ramage Sheetmetals and a passion for perfect production, he knows his way around our Trumpf Press Brakes like nobody else. From folding intricate profiles up to 16mm thick on our 8-axis machine to using hemming tools for complex parts, Brian makes sure every order is folded just right. He takes great satisfaction in seeing his handiwork head out the door in perfect form. Off the clock, Brian is just as much of a character. He loves relaxing with YouTube, working on his Chev Camaro 5.7L V8, or cruising on his Yamaha V-Max 1200cc. He’s always had a passion for motorcycles — a dream sparked during his childhood with two “mean” brothers, one of whom inspired Brian’s path into engineering. A man of eclectic tastes, Brian’s two favorite movies are Pink Floyd: The Wall and Jesus Christ Superstar. His dream superpower? Flying — because, why not? If he could pick any pet, it’d be a big, cuddly bear. And when he’s not cruising in his Camaro, he’s driving his quirky Suzuki Wagon R, affectionately dubbed the "Clown Car." Brian loves working at Ramage Sheetmetals because of the supportive, easy-going team environment. Watching a hard day’s work turn into perfectly folded profiles brings him immense pride. He’s truly one of the reasons we keep delivering top-notch results to our clients. If you need expertly folded sheet metal with a touch of flair and precision, Brian’s your man!
